The Canadian Government vows to restore gutted fisheries protections to the Canada Fish Act including $280 million to restoring and conserving valuble habitat.  

An excellent Overview of the 2016 Salmon Season & Outlook for 2017 by Greg Taylor of DFO's recent forecast. The conclusion? "Marine and freshwater environmental conditions from 2013 through 2016 makes it even more problematic than usual to forecast salmon returns for 2017.... In terms of management and enforcement, there is little evidence the Department plans any meaningful changes in 2017" - YIKES!

All of BC has been in an Epic deep freeze but it has finally let go of us.  It was a tough start for our winter steelheading but when is Winter steelhead ever easy?

The North feels like the north pole right now.  -30 this past week with wind chill made it easy to stay inside.

River is amazing right now if you love Swamp fishing.  Pouring rain and brown water is how our season started

The Skeena system is in the midst of a 110 year low for water conditions.  This could change if we get a wet fall which is entirely possible.  The Steelhead numbers being reported are extremely impressive.  Not only are the early fish pushing in hard, the sheer size of the run is bordering on excellent.
